فراتحلیل تحقیقات تجربی پیرامون رضایت از زندگی و تعداد فرزندان در کشورهای مختلف

چکیده

امروزه، در باورهای عمومی جامعه­ی ایرانی این تصور شکل­گرفته است که زندگی راحت و بی‌دردسر یعنی زندگی بدون فرزند یا حداکثر یک فرزند. آیا این باور عمومی در واقعیت نیز صحیح است؟ آیا واقعاً کسانی که فرزند کمتر دارند، نسبت به کسانی که فرزند بیشتر دارند یا کسانی که فرزند ندارند نسبت به کسانی که فرزند دارند، رضایت و احساس خوشبختی بیشتری دارند؟ برای پاسخ به این پرسش 44 پژوهش تجربی در کشورهای مختلف از طریق روش «شمارش قاعده­مند» تحلیل شده‌اند. بررسی تحقیقات نشان می­­دهد نتایج تحقیقات بسیار متنوع و متفاوت است و نمی‌توان یک گزاره­ی کلی و مطلق در­این­باره گفت؛ به­ویژه آنکه این رابطه معلول عوامل واسط همچون دوره­ی زندگی، نوع تأهل، نظام اقتصادی-اجتماعی و­... است. اما تعداد تحقیقاتی که میان اصل وجود یا تعداد فرزند و رضایت زندگی رابطه­ی منفی نشان می‌دهند، کمتر است. در تحقیقاتی که رابطه­ی منفی یا خنثی نشان می‌دهند، انواع خانواده‌ها مانند زنانی که فرزند نامشروع دارند نیز درنظر گرفته شده است. اگر تنها خانواده‌های معمولی (با حضور پدر و مادر و فرزندان) درنظر گرفته شود، رابطه مثبت است و حتی با افزایش تعداد فرزند، رضایت از زندگی بیشتر می‌شود. همچنین نظام اقتصادی- رفاهی و سیاست‌های حمایت از والدین کاملاً می‌تواند رابطه­ی تعداد فرزند و رضایت زندگی والدین را تحت تأثیر قرار دهد.
