Abstract
Divorce for some women is a decision to reduce harm and increase physical and mental health, while others may cause regret and harm. The present study was conducted with the aim of identifying and preventing traumatic divorce and regrets after divorce of women. For this purpose, utilized a qualitative content analysis, based on the conventional content analysis approach, targeted sampling, and triangulation of data. In-depth interviews were conducted with 37 divorce-damaged women and 12 counselors and psychologists. The findings revealed 2 main themes, 6 categories, and 43 subcategories. One of the main themes is Unreasonable Divorce, which includes three categories: insufficient effort to preserve the marriage, impulsive and emotional decision-making, and lack of preparedness for life after divorce. The results highlight the importance of promoting a culture of seeking mental health support during marital conflicts and Referral from family court to counseling in divorce cases, to reduce traumatic divorces and post-divorce regrets.
